Best Bars To Enjoy A Fall Cocktail In Philadelphia

By Philadelphia Bucket List

Showing up for the cinnamon rimmed glasses but staying for the Absolut Juice. 🍏

As we move into the holiday season, we all yearn for extra coziness (and space heaters) to get us through the colder days. In moments like these, we'd recommend spiced anything, apple everything, layering when leaving the apartment, and locating a few bars that can fulfill your urge to stay snug for the season.

Locate that cozy pub that'll supply you with endless hot toddies, a brewery with tasting flights, a tempting Absolut Juice Appletini, or even a restaurant with a sprinkle of Mediterranean and Latin roots. Define your sense of coziness for the season and hold on for dear life as winter is coming.

The Plough & The Stars

The pub culture in Philly has always been spot on. As one of the oldest cities in the country, there is a certain authenticity at pubs that you won't be able to find anywhere else. Plough & The Stars was first opened by two emigrants over 20 years ago and continues to act as a neighborhood staple. With two different levels and plenty of beer taps to go around, it's a great spot to plop down for the day and bask in the Irish sun (indoors).

Pro Tip: If pumpkin spiced is a friend of yours, then definitely make a move for the Absolut Juice Appletini cocktail.

Fishtown Brewpub

The east coast is known to produce some quality brews, experimenting with new flavors and different methods of production. Fishtown welcomes you from a block away. With a stained glass window at the rear end of the bar and an exposed brick setting, there is nothing keeping you from ordering a beer flight and experimenting with some of the best brews in the city. Feeling a cocktail? Take a sip of The Big Apple Cocktail instead.

Valanni

As you're looking for the perfect cold-weather formula this season, you can't forget one of the most important components, food. The comfort that stems from a warm bowl of paella or a mezze spread will keep you rallying all day (or night) long. One of our favorite spots comes to us in the form of a Mediterranean-Latin influenced restaurant in Center City. Valanni's vibrant space lights up every night with folks looking for a good cocktail and a great time.

Pro Tip: There is a happy hour every day that will do its best to tempt you with $5 select drinks and 1/2 priced tapas.

Pro Pro Tip: Swap out regular vodka with Apple Absolut Juice in your mule. It's a serious game changer.

Tir na nOg

This is an Irish pub if we've ever seen one. Start with the wooden molding and exposed brick, make your way toward the Jameson, and finish with the sweet sounds of the Irish bartender. Tir na nOg is a traditional (and charming) pub experience that will send you on a trip to Dublin for the night. Insert Philadelphians, a drink (or three), and it won't be long before you're singing Irish jingles and feeling right at home.

Pro Tip: Happy hour runs Monday through Fridays from 4-7PM. We'd recommend trying the Apple Spice cocktail but swapping out for Absolut Juice Apple. Afterwards, be sure to hit the Reading Terminal for some treats.

Where: 1600 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19103
