Prepare for the visual journey of a light-time.

Light up the night at Toronto’s Light Festival in the historic Distillery District! Now in its fourth year, it aims is to create a “positive, magical urban oasis” that unites people of all ages and backgrounds. While the winter evenings can often be dark and frigid, the festival aims to illuminate the way to a memorable ‘light out.’

The free festival stretches over 13 acres and 44 buildings that exhibit both local and international light artists. From Australia to the Netherlands, these artists have gathered here with the sole intention of providing warmth, light, and a smile in the wintery nights. Each artist demonstrates a different way that light can be bent and presented artfully.

Visitors are also encouraged to partake in a walking and tasting tour that offers you a sensory experience as you navigate the festival. Starting with a hot beverage, your tour guide will lead you around the stunning pieces of lightwork. The tour will then warm up with spirit tastings, along with chocolate and local brewery samples. The experience lasts about 90 minutes, and begins at $49 per person.

The Toronto Light Festival invites you to add a little bit of life and light into your night as you absorb the city’s culture and the talents within. At TLF, the mission is “to help transform a moment of consciousness, from the cold and the dark into the warmth of the light (even if it can reach -20C).”
