Three Top Spots To Sip Margs In NYC

By New York Bucket List

Soup of the day: Tequila. 🍋

Published February 17, 2020

National margarita day was officially Saturday, February 22. However, national margarita day happens to unofficially be any day that ends in -day. Therefore, while you may be extra inclined to sip this tequila-tinged treat on the 22nd, we’ve rounded out three NYC hotspots that’ll transport you straight to margaritaville – whenever your heart (and taste buds) desires.

Zengo

When we say “it’s happy hour somewhere,” that “somewhere” happens to be at Zengo. While their actual happy hour runs Monday through Saturday from 5:30PM to 8PM, we promise this Latin-Asian locale will leave you feeling happy at all hours of the day. With vibrant decor and hanging wood beams from a sky-high ceiling, Zengo helps you escape the bustle of midtown and encourages you to sit back and sip back, say, a Piña Mezcalita? Sí por favor. Boasting everything from ceviches to dim sum, Zengo – meaning “give and take” in Japanese – artfully blends Latin and Asian styles and flavors throughout their weekday lunch, dinner and bottomless brunch menus. On weekends, for $49 per guest, you can get unlimited small plates and cocktails. Time to rally the troops.

Where: Zengo at 622 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10017
Hours:

  • Weekday Lunch: Monday - Friday 11:30AM - 2:30PM
  • Dinner: Monday - Wednesday 5PM - 10PM; Thursday - Friday 5PM - 11PM; Saturday 5:30PM - 11PM
  • Happy Hour: Monday - Saturday 5:30PM - 8PM
  • Bottomless Brunch: Saturday & Sunday 11:30AM - 4PM (2 hour time limit per table)

La Biblioteca

Step into our office library. Just below Zengo, you can descend to the cozy, hidden spirits lounge, La Biblioteca. With a menu of small plates and over 150 types of agave spirits (read: tequilas and mezcals 😝), this covert cavern also boasts having the only tequila librarian in NYC. Through their Tequila Locker Program, you can even buy and store your own bottle at La Biblioteca, free of charge. After purchase, on your next visit, you’ll be able to utilize your bottle for house-made sangria or build your own margaritas, with fresh sour mix, salt and a personal shaker for $10.

Where: Below Zenga at 622 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10017
Hours:

  • Monday - Wednesday 5PM - 10PM; Thursday - Friday 5PM - 12AM; Saturday 7PM - 12PM
  • Happy Hour: Monday - Friday 5PM - 8PM; Saturday 7PM - 8PM

Maya

Looking for modern mexican cuisine in a lively inviting setting? Or possibly an all-night happy hour? May we suggest May-a? Maya, inspired by local Tequilerias in Mexico, is rooted in tradition yet exploding with contemporary tastes. Grab a group or a magragrita mate and enjoy tableside guacamole, fresh-made tortillas and tacos with authentic fillings, while sipping spirits – slowly like locals or in hand-muddled cocktails.

Where: Maya at 1191 1st Avenue, New York, NY 10065
Hours:

  • Dinner: Sunday - Thursday 5PM - 10PM; Friday & Saturday 5PM - 11PM
  • Daily All Night Happy Hour: Monday - Friday 4PM - Close; Saturday & Sunday 5PM - Close (at the bar & lounge only)
  • Bottomless Brunch: Saturday & Sunday 10:00AM - 4:30PM (2 hour time limit per table)
