The Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival takes place every spring aiming to immerse visitors in Japanese history, culture, and tradition. It’s basically like a trip to Japan without actually traveling (or paying for a flight) to get there.

The festival kicks off the weekend of April 4th at the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center and has become synonymous with the return of spring within Philadelphia.

The festival began in 1997, focusing on an effort to plant more trees. Over the years, the number of sakura (flowering Japanese cherry trees) increased, and so did the city’s love for Japanese culture.
