As much as we love NYC, summer is the perfect time to leave the concrete jungle behind for some actual nature (because Central Park doesn’t really count). From whitewater rafting to white wine tasting, we’ve rounded up seven of our favorite day trip adventures to help you escape the city this summer.

Kayak & Winery Day Trip 

Get ready for a fun-filled day of paddling, sampling and relaxing. This kayak and wine trip is a great blend of both adventure and chill, perfect for adventurers of all kinds. Enjoy a relaxing paddle down the Delaware River followed by a wine tasting at a favorite local vineyard. either Warwick Valley Winery or Crossing Vineyards & Winery (depending on dates). There, enjoy your choice of an included wine tasting or just decide to get a full glass and take it from there. With roundtrip transportation provided, you’ll get picked up and dropped off from NYC in a luxury coach bus.

River Tubing & Brews Day Trip

This summer, we’ll be spending as much time as possible out on the water. For a unique bucket list experience, hop on the River Tubing & Brews bus from NYC and spend a day floating down the Delaware River and visiting an award-winner brewery. After a short drive, you’ll enjoy a 2-hour river tubing experience (depending on river speed) down the beautiful Delaware River. And since we know you’re going to ask, yes coolers are permitted on the water and available for purchase upon arrival at the tubing outfitter.

Long Island Winery Tour

Escape the big apple for a day with a chauffeured shuttle to wine country for an all-inclusive tasting tour. Visit three award-winning wineries in Long Island’s world-renowned North Folk region. On most days that’ll mean enjoying either Sparkling Pointe or Raphael before continuing to The Lenz Winery, and Osprey’s Dominion.

You’ll receive a tasting at each winery, a hearty lunch with gourmet sandwiches, a friendly SA guide, and of course your very own designated (bus) driver.

Whitewater Rafting Day Trip

For the pure adventure seekers, spend a day rafting down Class II to III rapids. With twisting turns and rollicking rapids, there’s no better recipe for an awesome day on the Lehigh River. Cruise down 9 miles of class III rapids all the while taking in some of the best scenery the Poconos has to offer. The river runs through miles of pristine gorge, allowing you to feel secluded and remote, despite being just 2 hours away from NYC.

The Met Cloisters

Though every New Yorker knows of the city’s most famous Museum – The Met – few know about the hidden gem Met Cloisters. Below, you can book a ticket that gives you access to both. The Met Cloisters is renowned for its collection of Byzantine and Medieval Art. Soak up medieval European art and stunning, lush gardens at this lesser-known locale. Take your time exploring four acres in northern Manhattan's Fort Tryon Park. The Cloisters is a scenic spot overlooking the Hudson River, home to the art, architecture and gardens of medieval Europe. Check out the Cloisters in the heart of the building and see over 2,000 medieval artworks and architectural triumphs.

Angry Orchard Cider House

Escape the “Big Apple '' for a day can drink in all that honeycrisp-love at Angry Orchard’s 60-acre, stunning Cider House—just 90 minutes from the city. Nestled in the heart of Hudson Valley, cidery visitors can tour the picturesque apple orchard with the Cidery Ambassadors, ascend to the country’s only Treehouse Tasting Room (!!) and sip cider tasting flights, including flavors exclusively available at the Cider House.
