Los Angeles may not be known for frosty seasons, but it certainly does aesthetic autumn and spooky season like nowhere else. We're talking an equal dose of gorgeous hikes, glittering botanical gardens, and full costumed witchy potion classes—plus Halloween events and haunted locations with thrills that only the epicenter of the entertainment industry could conjur.  

As the SoCal hot summer fades and the leaves begin to change, we’ve gathered 16 of the best fall and Halloween activities around Los Angeles.

Explore the Fall Foliage at the Descanso Gardens

Get your dose of golden leaves and autumnal botany just minutes away from Downtown LA. Descanso Gardens is blooming with fall foliage—including “chocolate roses” as of September 2nd! Plus, "Carved" featuring thousands of pumpkins, and "Enchanted Forest of Light" are back for the 2021 season—and tickets are on presale now! 

Carved is up first from Oct. 11-31, and will include sculptures, pumpkin-carving demos, fall-fun bites and sips, and a mile-long walk brimming with pumpkin displays.

Experience Fluffy Cloud on October 9th 



Fresh from 2019’s Burning Man, the Fluffy Cloud is a truly wild, 3-story, 360 degree immersive sound and light experiential artwork! For 1 night, LA will experience it as a centerpiece in an event like no other, described as: “a pop-up artistic carnival [with] interactive art, games, rides, crafting, maybe even some weather control....Wait and see.” 

There will be 3 phases: sound bathing, live acoustic/electronic performances, and a lineup of deep house and melodic techno rarely heard “this side of the Atlantic.”
