Winters in Miami are far from frosty, but the city offers a ton of activities to rev up the holiday spirit including must-try sweets, decorated zoos, holiday villages, ice skating, and so much more. Residents can even enjoy the world’s largest holiday theme park in tropical weather!

Miami’s tropical zoo is not to be missed during the holidays. Their signature Zoo Lights event features over one million bright and dazzling tree lights. This year there is a brand new 26 foot tall LED tree, a holiday river boat ride, hot chocolate and cookies, as well as a ton of animal appearances! For our 21+ crew, make sure to check out their Sip and Stroll on December 9th, with a live DJ, unlimited boat rides, cocktails, a beer garden and spiked cocoa!

Bayfront Holiday Village transforms Bayfront Park into an iconic holiday shopping and entertainment destination for locals and tourists alike. Get your skate on at the waterfront Bayskate Miami, sip on a Peppermint Mojito, have fun with the Gnauty Gnome Christmas Scavenger Hunt, and take a photo with Santa all while you cross off your shopping list.

The largest Christmas-themed amusement park and carnival in the world is back in its 38th year! Thousands of visitors come every year to experience the magic of South Florida’s tallest Christmas tree, millions of dazzling lights, and hundreds of themed displays. There is also festive Christmas music, delicious foods from around the world, live show entertainment and carnival rides suited for the entire family.

Stroll through Miami’s most gorgeous garden at night and find it blooming to life with stunning illumination and spectacular special effects. This holiday season, visitors can tour the historic houses at the Deering Estate. See the grounds come alive with holiday accents and festive decorations that will transport visitors to the glamor and elegance of the Gilded Age. Glittering holiday décor will be featured in each room of the Deering Estate’s historic Mediterranean-revival Stone House (1922) and pioneer era Richmond Cottage (1896).

Dress in festive holiday pajamas to see the lighting of the 35ft tree at the Doral Government Center, followed by a special screening of the “Polar Express” on the lawn. Photos with Santa will be available for $5 each.

Pinecrest Gardens transforms into a winter wonderland adorned by thousands of twinkling lights that go up, through and around the whimsical botanical landscape. This year the botanical garden is adding more sections of sparkling holiday lights and a holiday-themed maze in the gardens that will be bigger than last year’s. Sip on a signature Pinecrest Gardens cocktail or enjoy a magical story time with Mrs. Clause. On select evenings, admission includes a holiday concert performance in the historic Banyan Bowl!

The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade is the “best show on H2O” and the traditional kickoff to the South Florida holiday season. This one-of-a-kind parade of beautifully decorated boats of all sizes is a can’t miss extravaganza. With over a million viewers along the 12 mile route, the parade where the floats really float is a Fort Lauderdale institution.

See 60 acres of tropical paradise, with over 3,000 of rare plants and trees—all glowing with tens of thousands of lights. This special night time viewing event features decorations and holiday scenes adorning the Arboretum and garden pathways of the Flamingo Gardens, along with a musical light show on the Wray Home, Santa’s Snow Mound, interactive life-sized snow globes, and holiday crafts to make and take. The Flamingo Cafe will also be serving holiday treats and beverages.

Every November and December, Hoffman’s Chocolate Factory, a chocolate and ice cream shop in Palm Beach Gardens, hosts a Winter Wonderland complete with holiday lights, mouth-watering chocolate displays, a giant Christmas tree, live music, a holiday wreath display contest, and more. In partnership with the Florida Panthers, visitors can also enjoy a 2,400 square-foot “Panthers in The Park” ice-skating rink! After a few figure eights, skaters can head inside Hoffman’s for a chocolate-making class and factory tour with Santa Clause himself.

The insta-worthy Christmas tree cones are back at Taiyaki at 1-800-Lucky. The waffle cone confection is filled with swirled matcha ice cream, showered in peppermints and colored sugars, and crowned with a fondant star. Santa probably dreams of this instead of cookies.
