Things are about to get stranger, as the Upside Down has arrived in Manhattan. Consider this your fair warning.

In celebration of the long-awaited fourth season of the global phenomenon Stranger Things, an optical and mesmeric lightshow experience straight from the Upside Down will take over the Empire State Building at exactly 8:45pm EST on Thursday, May 26.

As dusk approaches, a crack will begin to creep across the southern facade of Manhattan’s most iconic skyscraper. As it grows, onlookers should prepare to be transported into the Upside Down through a visual spectacle of epic proportions.

Similar rifts have been popping up in unexpected places ever since 1983, when a test subject named Eleven ripped open a portal to the Upside Down in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana.

The terrifying alternative dimension has been lurking beneath our feet ever since, and now it’s officially creeping into our city, too.
