Your guide to the new superblock in Manhattan. 🌆

by New York Bucket List

They say location is king...and a location in the heart of Manhattan is a royal flush

Okay, we say that, but Manhattan is truly quintessential NYC grandeur. Home of Central Park and iconic Empire State building, nightlife that never sleeps, world famous restaurants, unmatched financial and international career opportunities, the city has it all and more.

We're extremely excited to announce a new addition to NYC: Manhattan West! This new development by Brookfield Properties is rising to be NYC’s “newest destination for food, culture, retail, hospitality, and the modern workplace."

Located on 9th Avenue between 31st and 33rd streets (385 Ninth Avenue), Manhattan West will be smack dab in the middle of a world of experiences. Just a short ways away is world-class musical theater at the crux of Broadway and Times Square, eateries and artistic finds all through Chelsea Market, the NY Knicks and Rangers alternating at the Garden, and the tranquil High Line to take an aerial walk for your moment of zen. Plus you’re also right by Moynihan Train Hall and Penn Station, to reach any farther attractions you desire.

Manhattan West has so many attractions, in fact, we’ve rounded up some of the best offerings below:

This 40,000 sq. ft. culinary destination was created by award-winning designer David Rockwell and is being developed by Brookfield Properties at Manhattan West. It is opening this fall.

Citizens NY will be a food and drink emporium, with a mecca of beloved vendors, ranging from Cindy Lou’s Cookies to Umami Burger to Plant Nation. It’s a “this place has everything” kind of place, making it a future go-to spot for work lunch, happy hour drinks (with full service bars on deck), coffee and pastry dates, late night sushi, and everything else.

Zou Zou's:
Executive Chef Madeline Sperling is opening an Eastern Mediterranean-inspired restaurant in the complex’s new Pendry hotel. She’s known for puffing grains to add texture to dishes like tasty jewels, and currently all-the-rage wood-fire cooking. Zou Zou’s is part of the Quality Branded Restaurant Group, which is also behind restaurants Don Angie and Quality Italian.

Hidden Leaf:
This combo restaurant, bar and daytime cafe is located within Midnight Theatre, where you’ll be able to enjoy playful riffs on Asian classics in the heart of Manhattan West Plaza. More information on Midnight Theatre below!

Ci Siamo
Executive Chef Hillary Sterling is also partial to a woodfire grill, but her fine dining takes an Italian and pasta focus. She’s opening Ci Siamo as part of the incredible Union Square Hospitality Group, lead by Danny Meyer, restaurateur and the Chief Executive Officer. It’s his first new restaurant in five years.

Daily Provisions
Also by Union Square Hospitality Group, Daily Provisions is a full-service casual café. Although serving quick bites, Daily Provisions still maintains the quality USHG is known for. Menu items include their signature crullers and classic bacon egg and cheese. Daily Provisions.

Midnight Theatre
Manhattan West will also have its own intimate theatre, that will allow attendees to enjoy shows on a smaller scale. Midnight Theatre self-describes as a “contemporary variety” theatre that will feature talent from the worlds of magic, music, comedy, Broadway, and more.

There’s also a fantastical lemon grove growing in the heart of Midtown Manhattan! Citrovia is a lemon and citrus themed immersive installation, complete with a custom citrus scent, set in the middle of the Manhattan West Plaza. There’s also an entire AR experience including a wack-a-lemon game and lemon vine growing.

Citrovia uses LED lights and billowing fabric clouds to mimic sunrise and sunset against a gorgeous ceiling of hand-painted oversized lemons and lemon trees, specifically created to beautify the area’s scaffolding. The über instagramable art will be up for at least two years, and will include an upcoming holiday themed twist!
