NYC's First-Ever West Side Festival Will Kick Off This September

Celebrate Manhattan's west side with a full day of arts and crafts, live performances, activities, free admission to museums, and more on September 30! ๐ŸŽ‰

New York City's vibrant cultural scene is about to get even more exciting this fall as more than 18 museums, parks, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions unite to present the first-ever West Side Fest on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

West Side Fest promises to be a free daylong celebration that showcases the best of arts and culture on Manhattan's West Side. This groundbreaking event brings together an array of cultural gems, all within a half-mile portion of New York's west side. Free museum admission, art making activities, tours, and live performances will be available throughout the day. Take a look at some of the activties planned, below.

  • Free admission to The Whitney from 10:30am until 6pm with crafts for kids from 11am to 3pm.
  • A poetry reading at The Highline's "Old Tree" at 3pm and 4pm.
  • Free admission to Poster House from 1 to 5pm, plus an interactive poster pasting wall at The Highline.
  • An open rehearsal with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater at West Village Rehearsal Co-op.
  • Free admission to The Rubin all day, plus a drop in "Healing Through Art" workshop from 1 to 3pm.
  • An interactive science festival, SUBMERGE, will take place from 11am to 3pm at Pier 84.
  • Live screenprinting and letterpress printing at Pier 63.
  • A puppet show at Westbeth, plus open studio tours and an art, craft, and vintage market.
  • Creative Break at Little Island with music and art making activities for kids.
  • Free block party at The Shed from 3 to 7 pm, featuring dance sets by The Dragon Sisters and Ladies of Hip-Hop, as well as ongoing DJ sets by Riobamba, BEARCAT, and Ashley Venom.
