A Giant Ferris Wheel Is Coming To Golden Gate Park

The incredible, illuminated 150-foot Skystar Observation Wheel—with sweeping views of the downtown skyline and ocean—is arriving in Golden Gate Park as part of its year long 150th anniversary celebration.

It will feature 35 enclosed, temperature-controlled gondolas, able to fit six passengers at once. Each ride will last 12 minutes long, and cost a hefty $18 for adults ($12 for seniors and children under 13). But everyone rides free on the opening April 4th!

The wheel will be roughly as tall as the de Young Museum’s observation deck. Arriving on April 4, 2020 and staying until March 1, 2021, it will spin in the park’s Music Concourse area, the plaza outside the de Young Museum and Japanese Tea Garden.
