This summer has been one for the books as far as movies go. Living through Barbenheimer weekend will be a story we pass on to our grandchildren. But if you haven't had the chance to see a summer flick yet (or if you're looking for an excuse to wear that all-pink set you bought again), you're in luck. National Cinema Day is back this year and will offer movie tickets for just $4 at theaters across the US.
Building upon the success of last year's event, this sequel offers moviegoers major discounted tickets for all film formats. Catch Barbie, Oppenheimer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mission Impossible, and more for less than the price of a medium popcorn. We rounded up all the details below.
What is National Cinema Day?
National Cinema Day began last year as a celebration highlighting the unifying allure of films and encouraging individuals to get out and enjoy the unmatched experience of watching a movie in a theater. To celebrate, cinemas across the US are offering $4 tickets on August 27 for any showings, including premium screening formats like 4XD, IMAX, and more. You can also snag a special $4 small combo concession offer if you book a show at Regal Cinemas.
On top of discounted tix, moviegoers can enjoy an expanded show schedule on Sunday, with as many screenings of blockbuster hits as possible, including Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Elemental, and more. Additionally, select locations offer 12:00 AM (late Saturday/early Sunday) showings, allowing passionate moviegoers to grab $4 tickets right at the start of National Cinema Day.
When is National Cinema Day?
This year's National Cinema Day will take place on Sunday, August 27, beginning at 12:00 AM. Any showtimes during the day will be available for the promotion.
How to Get Tickets
To get tickets, visit nationalcinemaday.org and enter your location. Choose a theater from the list (major theaters like AMC and Regal Cinemas are participating). Then, select your movie of choice, and check out directly from the website!
