Throw in a fusion of Latin, Hispanic, Caribbean, African, and Asian influences, plus the year-round tropical weather, and the vibes are simply unmatched.
Beyond the mainstream, though, Miami offers intimate, hidden speakeasies scattered throughout the city. From secret entrances behind clotheslines to passages through candy stores, these venues cater to every nightlife preference, whether it's monster-themed bars, cozy library dens, HiFi lounges, or even dance clubs. Below is a list of must-find Miami speakeasies (including instructions on how to get in).

Swizzle Rum Bar & Drinkery
Swizzle, a richly dark island lounge, embodies the Caribbean spirit with its rum-heavy drink menu, boasting 150 varieties. Think classic Hurricanes, coffee-infused Banana Daiquiris, mint-based Missionary Downfalls, and rare Haitian spirits. The ornate bar, adorned with photos showing the history of rum, offers 24 leather-stooled seats for attentive service or to explore their excellent Florida Rum Flights.

Dante’s HiFi

This soulful, retro “den” in Wynwood was actually Miami’s first take on listening bars and houses a truly grand 8,500 vinyl record library. DJs play them nightly on a state-of-the-art analog sound system, spinning mellow-volumed beats from Dante’s Center. We recommend grabbing one of their excellent whisky highballs or fresh spritzes to take it all in. Psst...members enjoy exclusive events and priority seating.

Kaona Room
This hidden “speaky-tiki” offers a Polynesian excursion to all who find it. Expect fun, themed decor—palm fronds, glass buoys, neon lights, and woven shades—blended with jazz club vibes. The space is kept private and intimate with a policy of no more than 45 guests at a time, and the drinks themselves are contemporary twists on tropical classics like aged Mai Tais made with in-house almond paste and Martini Coladas. They also have a menu of flavorful bites like Pohaku and Shrimp Shumai, plus occasional live music for a full island escape experience.

Red Phone Booth in Brickell offers the ultimate prohibition-style experience with classic cocktails like Sazerac and Old Fashioned, served with hand-chipped double reverse osmosis ice and fresh-squeezed juices—talk about authentic. More than just cocktails, Red Phone Booth also boasts an extensive cigar selection in a clean-air environment with Italian leather sofas, plus small plates. You enter through an antique London red phone booth, but you have to know the secret passcode.

How to get in: If you're not a member, you'll need to secure an exclusive phone number from a member, concierge, or friend and dial it into a restored London antique red phone booth.

Los Altos
Perched atop the Taquerias el Mexicano, Los Altos is buzzing with free-flowing mezcal, tequila, dancing, and authentic Mexican flair in the Cuban enclave of Little Havana. The ornate, near 3,000 sqft speakeasy is adorned with plush banquettes, gothic sugar skull decor, and stunning cathedral touches. Guests enter through a dulceria (candy store) adorned with colorful piñatas and authentic Mexican caramelos.

How to get in: Located above the restaurant, look for a metal grated door on the right, and head upstairs. The password is “tequila.”

Bar Kaiju
For a wild night, look to the monstrously (we had to) enjoyable cocktail bar above the Citadel Food Hall. With a “kaiju” (Japanese for “strange beast”) theme and a local feel, Bar Kaiju is a tribute to mythical beasts all over the world, with themed cocktails such as the Suntron Whiskey Godzilla and the Tropical Sour Lochness. Grab a seat at the bar to drink them while enjoying the surrounding Japanese anime ambiance.

Coyo Taco (Wynwood location)
Locals know that 1) Coyo Taco serves up some of the city’s best street tacos, and 2) there’s a vibrant little speakeasy just past the cooks if you're at the Wynowood location! The Bar Behind Coyo Taco still remains hidden from most outsiders while catering to Miamians with generous pours of tequila. Pop in the past the 'Employees Only' double doors to find yourself in the vibrant backroom lounge where different DJs play nightly.

El Santo Cantina invites all guests to worship at the altar of food and drink with their delicious, shareable Peruvian and Latin dishes. Take a step past the dining room, though, and you'll find the hidden gem: the tequila speakeasy Don Diablo. Here, saints and sinners are welcomed to the Mexican, religiously sexy (you’ll see), vampiric roadhouse-style bar, equipped with DĂa de los Muertos-style skeletons, clubby bottle service, Bichota Wednesdays, sangria pitchers and free-flowing tequila. Don Diablo is dinner and dancing times ten.

Bodega Taqueria y Tequila may first appear to be just a funky Mexican street food joint with an attached Airstream food truck—until you find the hidden entrance to one of South Beach’s most beloved nightclubs. Expect flowing mezcal, tequila, and spicy margaritas, old-school DJs, and a very cheeky marquee sign.

How to get in: Locate the blue portapotty door. Once inside, you'll encounter a tiny room with urinals mounted high on the walls. Keep going through the following door, and you're there.

Amelia’s 1931
Nestled in West Kendall, Amelia’s 1931 offers a stylish fusion of Cuban, Peruvian, and Korean flavors, complemented by excellent craft cocktails all sourced from locally farmed ingredients. Enjoy dishes like Cuban Pork Katsu, Pan pan-seared halibut, and steak fries, and pair your meal with the “Mezcal you Later” with clarified lemon (one of our faves). For a lighter experience, join the after-hours events on weekends from 11 PM to 1 AM, featuring $10 bites, throwback music, and late-night happy hour specials.

One K Raw, a new seafood spot in the heart of Brickell, features a raw bar, an outdoor patio, and a speakeasy—all made to feel like you're at the home of a good friend. The restaurant looks like the terrace of a house in the Florida Keys, with white wood ceilings and a clean marine aesthetic. At the bar, bartenders serve the owner’s favorite, a toasted walnut old-fashioned with house-made infused walnut syrup. Venture on to discover One K Room, a hidden-library-esque lounge reminiscent of a cozy Hamptons hideaway in the 1960s. There, you can groove to vinyl spun by DJs beneath mirrored ceilings from Wednesday to Saturday.

Miami Sound Bar
Strictly speaking, Miami Sounds Bar isn't a hidden speakeasy, but you'll get the same dim-lit, tight-squeeze intimacy of a speakeasy, and it's an all-around vibey cocktail bar worth including. HiFi bars, inspired by the 1950s Japanese listening bars, have made their debut in the States over the last few years. Miami Sound Bar is one such place. Guests can grab a Japanese whiskey in the vinyl-lined space, slide into a coveted red velvet seat, and enjoy a relaxing social listening experience played on a timeless high fidelity (HiFi) system.
